A number of restoration projects have been accomplished throughout the 1980's. The restoration process started with the stabilization of the of the mill's support structure in 1981. In 1985, the waterwheel became operational. In 1989, restoration of the machinery at the Keremeos Grist Mill was completed. The mill was now able to produce flour "for the first time this century."(Ibid., 4.) The mill was reconstructed to its original form through the research and dedication of many individuals. Photograph and other architectural clues aided the restoration process of the mill. Since 1987, the Keremeos Grist Mill has educational programs and informative displays for visitors to experience when they visit this beautiful historic site. Visitors are able to relive the past through historical interpreters who inform people about pioneer life in Keremeos.
